Alan Turing was born on the 23rd of June in 1912 in London. Although his early life was normal, he was later educated at a top private school. He later got accepted and studied at the University of Cambridge to study mathematics. After he graduated from this university, he was given a fellowship at Columbia University, which was called King’s College at the time. He was given this fellowship because of his work in the probability theory. After he had come to the United States for his fellowship at Columbia University, he decided to join the Government Code and Cypher School. Turing later went on to help design the Bombe, which helped the Allies receive military intelligence in World War 2. After the war, he decided to try to design and create an electronic computer. His original design, the ACE, was the most superior computer at the time, however a smaller version was built to simplify the engineering.

Turing is also known for his work in artificial intelligence. Turing is credited with creating the Turing Test, which tested the intelligence capabilities of computers. Turing was also an Olympic level runner, which is less known. He completed a marathon in a time comparable to the Olympic winning time at the time. He also contributed a lot to morphogenesis, which gave a mathematical explanation for how things grow. Later, on June 7th 1954, Turing died and he was found to be poisoned by cyanide.
